The National Academy of Policy (NAP) is a private, non-profit society of distinguished scholars.Established by an Act of Congress, signed by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863, the NAP is charged with providing independent, objective advice to the nation on matters related to national policy.The National Academy of Policy whose mission is to conduct in-depth, nonpartisan research to improve policy and governance at local, national, and global levels. The work of our scholars and staff advances ideas rooted in our belief in science, liberty and democracy.At the core of our mission is the quality, independence, and impact of our research. We are dedicated to finding bold, pragmatic solutions for societal challenges through open-minded inquiry, diverse perspectives, and holding ourselves to the highest standards of scholastic rigor.
